Villafranca (VR) Railway Station _ October 26th, 2020 Monument symbol of tolerance and integration commissioned by African Fashion Gate

Inaugurated Discrimine Momentum monument , made by the artist Daniele Basso, symbol of integration and tolerance between peoples. Commissioned by African Fashion Gate, an association committed to the fight against discrimination, the work was donated to the Municipality of Villafranca Verona and installed in Risorgimento square, in front of the railway station, where in 2019 Vasile Todirean, forty-two years old Romanian, was attacked and set on fire and later passed away due to his injuries.

In the presence of the Mayor Roberto Dall'Oca, Monsieur Abdul Aziz Mbaye, Minister of the Government of Senegal, and all the local authorities, Nicola Paparusso and Marietou Dione, heads of the African Fashion Gate foundation, illustrated the project that will continue internationally and placed a plaque in memory of the terrible violent act of racism.

In the artist's words "Discrimine Momentum, from Latin, means Critical Moment. Above, two crossed blades tell the stinging conflict of the integration process. Resistance to change and fear. Going down, the debate takes shape, initially divergent, becomes convergent dialogue. Finally, the encounter and the birth of new perspectives with the unexpected sublimation of the feminine, which gives life. A circular work as the relationship of man with the world, nature and the economy must be. Where integration becomes an expression of sustainability for a better future".
